Hambergite (gemmy twinned crystal)
Description
Hambergite (gemmy twinned crystal)I obtained this piece from Bill Larson, who purchased the specimen in Mogok nearly 20 years ago, and it was a part of my private collection for years. It is one of the largest Hambergite crystals I've seen from the Palelni Mine, even though it's not a complete crystal. It reminds me of similar Hambergites from Afghanistan with the thick blocky form and distinct twinning on the {110} faces. The piece ranges from white and virtually opaque to colorless
The Zircons are rather gemmy when backlit
His catalogue number (1887) is still glued to the base of the specimen
as a species
do not pass up this excellent and high quality Danburite
there are a few prismatic Zinkenite crystals on the piece
The piece is notably gemmy / transparent and really looks good with a bit of backlighting to see in the insect inclusions
This is a very impressive specimen of this often overlooked and sometimes underappreciated phosphate
This piece was difficult to photograph
golden tetragonal scalenohedron of Chalcopyrite sits in the center of a plate of grey-white Quartz “needles”
This specimen is over 40 years old and was part of the best find of the material
One of the very few Vivianite specimens I have seen from Tomokoni with associated Barite
you almost never see specimens
