Chiastolite is a variety of Andalusite with a composition of AlSiO2. Its name is derived from the cross shaped inclusions of graphite; hence its name derived from the Greek work Chiastos. During the 16th century, these stones were distributed to pilgrims returning from Santiago de Campostela in Spain.
