NEW YORK CENTRAL ALCO RS3 8223 "ATLAS CLASSIC GOLD"-HOLocomotive 8223 was the first RS3 delivered to the New York Central Railroad by the American Locomotive Co. (ALCo) as a class DRSP 6A diesel in August of 1950. It became Penn Central in 1966 and finally Amtrak in 1976. It spent much of its life in mainline and branch line service but was most often found in the upstate New York region. Railroad enthusiast Albert Kallfelz purchased this locomotive from Amtrak and with assistance of members of the CNY
