Description
Nepenthes ovata, BE-3133This highland species comes from the Barisan Range in Sumatra. Its a stunning species. The robust lower pitchers have wide, flared peristomes that can be orange, yellow or red with beautiful striping. The lower pitchers often darken as they mature. The upper pitchers have colorful striping on the peristomes and are infundibular shaped. Weve found this species to be quite a climber and have had plants with stems >15 feet long. plants from the Phang Nga province were elevated to species status as Nepenthes orbiculata while plants from the Trang province are still regarded as Nepenthes mirabilis var
-Large plants start at 11in tall and up
peristome and color is incredible even at a young size and it's even more extreme on our larger plants
Due to the lowland veitchii parent used in this cross
We've got 4 cuttings available of various sizes shown in the last photo
there seems to be some populations with incredibly dark pitchers
The plant for sale is approximately 2' across
these plants benefit nutritionally by functioning as lavatories for tree shrews as the animals lick the exudate (sugar) from their lids
